Education

Education is one of the main pillars and indicators of a country’s social and economic progress. Education is also essential to the process of promoting democracy, peace, tolerance and human development around the world. Afghanistan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world and only 18 % of women in Afghanistan are literate. After 2001 and the end of the Taliban regime many boys and girls wanted to start school but the school system was at a low and needed to be reconstructed and now NAC is one of the organizations which is assisting in that. Within education we have activities both for formal and informal education.

Formal Education

NAC’s long-term strategic objective within education is to contribute to the enhancement of the education sector in Afghanistan. Our education support program aims to ensure quality education, child-friendly environment in schools and to promote access to school for disadvantaged rural children and Afghan refugees/returnees. Informal Education

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education has identified literacy and non-formal education as one of the priority areas in its National Education Strategic Plan (NESP) to develop a long-term literacy program to empower communities and individuals to build a productive, secure and literate nation. NGOs take an essential role as partners for the NESP and in expanding literacy and vocational training women. NAC  implements several projects with activities related to non-formal education.
