Our Integrated Rural Development Programme
NAC’s Integrated Rural Development Programme aims to enhance the capacity of people living in rural areas to sustain and improve their quality of life. It was developed according to a rights-based, holistic, integrated and multi-input approach to development assistance with four different work areas of concentration; Education, Environment, Health and Women’s Rights.

Health
The Health situation in Afghanistan is in an appalling condition. According to Afghanistan Maternal Survey (AMS) in 2010, the maternal death ratio is 327 per 100,000 births, but still it is higher than many other countries.

Education
Education is one of the main pillars and indicators of a country’s social and economic progress. Afghanistan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. Only 18 % of women in Afghanistan are literate.

Natural Resource Management
In Afghanistan, 80% of the population depends on natural resources as a source of their income, livelihood and survival. NAC aims to integrate environmental protection and community development through a scheme which includes several components.
